Cheyenne, Wyoming six-year-old Bridger is a real life hero.

On July 9th Bridger potentially saved his little sister’s life after the two kids encountered an aggressive, charging dog.

Bridger’s aunt Nicole Walker shared that he jumped in front of his sister to shield her from the attack, allowing her to escape unharmed. After the attack, Bridger told family members, “if someone had to die, I thought it should be me.” Bridger was bit several times in the face and head. He received about 90 stitches from a plastic surgeon and is now resting at his home in Cheyenne.

Nicole recently updated us that Bridger is in, “great spirits.” “He can’t smile too widely yet, but he was grinning as I read some of your comments to him,” Nicole said about the outpouring of social media support.

Walker also wants folks to know that she has no ill-feelings about the dog owners. “The dog’s owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family. We feel no resentment toward them at all, and if anything, there’s only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident.”

She added that many folks had reached out about contributing financially or starting a GoFundMe page. Instead, Walker has insisted that folks contribute to charities that give back to United States military veterans like the Wounded Warrior Project or Mission 22.
