“Next question, sorry. Talk to me in 20 years.”
Anya Taylor-Joy has said she needs about 20 years before revealing what happened on the set of Furiosa.
The new Mad Max film is set to release later this month, with Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role.
When a new film is on it’s way that generally means you do the rounds – you give set stories, you talk about your experience filming it, the normal film marketing stuff.
Not this time.
Taylor-Joy was asked about her time on the set of the new film, and gave an incredibly schtum response, refusing to go into it.
In an interview with The New York Times, the actor said that the experience was incredibly solitary and difficult.
She said: “I’ve never been more alone than making that movie”.
“I don’t want to go too deep into it, but everything that I thought was going to be easy was hard.”
The experience of filming a Mad Max movie is an incredibly unique one. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron can attest to this from their time on Mad Max: Fury Road.

The film was a rough experience, almost shut down several times, and there was a huge feud between the pair, due in part to what was described as a ‘gruelling’ production schedule.
Whilst a major part of most films is simply learning lines and working on the delivery of them, Mad Max films are famously low on dialogue for their main characters.
Tom Hardy’s Max had only 63 lines of dialogue, whilst Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa had only 30.
There have been no reports of Taylor-Joy having any kind of feud with co-star Chris Hemsworth, in fact much the opposite, but she seems to have had a similarly difficult time.

When the New York Times interviewer asked her to expand on the difficulties she had on set she said: “Next question, sorry.”
“Talk to me in 20 years,” before repeating herself, saying: “Talk to me in 20 years.”
The actor hasn’t expanded on this in other interviews, however, the lack of lines and gruelling desert filming sound like contributing factors.
She said: “I do want to 100 percent preface this by saying I love George, and if you’re going to do something like this, you want to be in the hands of someone like George Miller.”
“But he had a very, very strict idea of what Furiosa’s war face looked like, and that only allowed me my eyes for a large portion of the movie. It was very much ‘mouth closed, no emotion, speak with your eyes.’ That’s it, that’s all you have,”

Anya also nodded to the tension behind Fury Road, adding: “Making this film wanting to kill your co-star would be really difficult.”
In terms of her co-star Chris Hemsworth, the actor was full of praise. She said: “He’s just the most wonderful, kind-hearted, big-hearted individual. We have a lot of fun. I’m very lucky.”
