Friends star Courteney Cox has been speaking about Matthew Perry in a recent interview

Friends star Courteney Cox says her late co-star Matthew Perry still ‘visits’ her.

Pretty tragically died in October last year after being found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home.

The actor achieved global fame with his role of Chandler Bing in Friends, endearing himself to millions with his sarcastic jokes and witty quips.

He’d been very open about his struggle with addiction to alcohol and opioids, most prominently in his book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which released in 2022.

In December, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Perry died of ‘acute effects of ketamine’, adding the manner of the death was accidental.

The autopsy also listed drowning, coronary artery disease and the opioid buprenorphine as contributors to his passing.

Following his tragic death, all of Perry’s Friends co-stars issued their own individuals statements to pay their respects.

Cox – who played Monica in Friends – wrote: “I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day.

“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites.

“To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story.

“In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind.”

And in a recent interview, Cox again opened up about her former co-star as she marked the 20th anniversary of Friends.

“I’m so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many years. He visits me a lot, if we believe in that,” she told CBS’ Sunday Morning programme.

Cox then further elaborated when she was asked by the channel about her spirituality.

She explained: “I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew. I feel like there are a lot of people that, I think, guide us.

“I do sense — I sense Matthew’s around for sure.”

The Friends cast also issued a joint statement at the time of Perry’s death, which read: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

“For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
