The news of his passing was made public through an official statement by the Kansas Sheriff’s Office. Dated April 5, 2024, the press release revealed that deputies responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the vicinity of 200th and Homestead Lane. It stated:
“Deputies conducted a search of the area and discovered the body of a deceased male in a wooded area away from the vehicle.”
The deceased male was later identified as Cole Brings Plenty, aged 27. At the time of the press release, crime scene investigators and the medical examiner were present at the scene to conduct further investigations.

According to the LKPD, an affidavit was filed with the District Attorney seeking Cole’s arrest following an incident reportedly linked to domestic violence at a Lawrence apartment in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Despite reports of a female in distress, Cole allegedly fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Identified as the suspect, and based on probable cause, an arrest warrant was issued. Surveillance footage captured him leaving the city shortly after the incident, heading south on Highway 59.
Out of respect for the victim’s privacy, further details of the incident were withheld. Nevertheless, in light of these developments, Cole’s family reached out to the authorities, expressing their concerns and reporting him as missing. The post revealed that Cole had missed a scheduled appointment with a TV show agent, a departure from his usual behavior.
Described as a 5’10” male with long black hair, brown eyes, and weighing between 145 and 150 pounds, Cole was a student at Haskell Indian Nations University, where he pursued acting classes and worked with his coach whenever possible.
