Alicia Silverstone shared a rather amusing yet awkward moment involving her son and one of her movies. The Clueless star recounted how her son attempted a rather “passionate” kiss after watching the film at a much too young age.
At the age of 47, Silverstone has had quite the diverse filmography, with some of her roles not exactly suitable for all audiences. She learned this lesson firsthand when her son watched Clueless, a film from 1995, at the tender age of five.
Reflecting on the experience in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Silverstone recalled how they watched the movie at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where it was screened for thousands of viewers. Amidst the romantic backdrop of the event, she realized mid-viewing that perhaps it wasn’t the most age-appropriate choice for her young son.
She candidly admitted, “He was so young and it’s not appropriate, I think, for a five-year-old to watch that movie… it’s all about sex and stuff, so I just realized, ‘Oops.’ But, at the time… he loved it.”
However, the unintended consequence of the movie viewing came to light afterward when her son began attempting to mimic the romantic gestures he had witnessed on screen. Silverstone humorously shared, “But what he really picked up [on is] he tried to kiss me, like, passionate kisses, because that’s what he saw in the movie.”
Silverstone, who portrayed Cher Horowitz in Clueless, welcomed her son Bear with her ex, Christopher Jarecki. Over the years, she’s raised eyebrows with her unconventional parenting methods, such as pre-masticating Bear’s food like a baby bird, which she shared in a video on her lifestyle blog, The Kind Life.
Despite the humorous incidents in her personal life, Silverstone continues to grace our screens with her talent, making an unforgettable cameo in the Netflix film Senior Year. The movie, starring Rebel Wilson, follows the journey of a high-school cheerleader who awakens from a 20-year coma and embarks on a quest to reclaim her former life, including the coveted title of prom queen.
Wilson expressed her excitement over Silverstone’s involvement in the project, emphasizing her admiration for the Clueless star and suggesting that Senior Year might just become a new classic, following in the footsteps of the beloved ’90s film.
