Steve Buscemi’s publicist has confirmed he became ‘another victim of a random act of violence in the city’.
Actor Steve Buscemi was assaulted in ‘a random act of violence’ which took place in New York City.
On Wednesday (8 May) at around 11:48am in front of 369 Third Ave, the 66-year-old actor found himself the target of an attacker.
The attack on Buscemi – who is best known for TV series such as crime drama The Sopranos and period crime drama Boardwalk Empire or films like 1996’s Fargo and 1992’s Reservoir Dogs – was confirmed by his publicist.

His publicist said in a statement to UNILAD: “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city.
“He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.“
The actor – who’s recently joined the cast of Netflix hit Wednesday – reportedly suffered some bruising, swelling and bleeding and so went to hospital for treatment, as per ABC 7.
A passersby has since come forward with their recollections of the incident.

One person who worked in the area told The Post how Buscemi was with a woman at the time of the attack.
“Through the corner of the window I saw him trip and fall backwards,” they said. “He right away got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him.”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time a ‘random act of violence’ has taken place in New York recently.
Fellow Broadwalk Empire star Michael Stuhlbarg – who plays crime boss Arnold Rothstein in the show – was targeted earlier this year on 31 March.
The 55-year-old was hit in the back of a neck with a rock at around 7:45pm around the area of East 90th Street and East Drive.

Police later arrested a 27-year-old named Xavier Israel however, the person who attacked Buscemi is reportedly still out there, as per an update from a New York Police Department spokesperson yesterday (12 May).
In the attack on Buscemi, the New York Police Department has released surveillance photographs of the alleged attacker.
The images show a man in a bright blue t-shirt, wearing what seems to be a rucksack, alongside a dark cap and black sweatpants. The man also has a grey beard.
