Both fans and critics of Reynolds defend the tenured actor after TJ Miller claims he changed after Deadpool made him famous
Ryan Reynolds is among the most famous actors in the world today, and it’s fair to say his role in the Deadpool movies skyrocketed his status in the world of film.
However, being one of the most famous actors has some downsides. Beyond just the dangers and lack of privacy that come with fame, there’s also the broken relationships that can come when you become incredibly famous, like Reynolds has.

Unfortunately for the Wrexham FC owner, it seems as though Reynolds is a victim of at least one weakened friendship as a result of his fame – at least that seems to be the case according to his former castmate in both Deadpool 1 & Deadpool 2, TJ Miller.
Miller spoke about Reynolds in a recent appearance on Help! With Natalie Cuomo, where he said the lead actor changed following the success of his first outing as a Marvel superhero.
“You first had Ryan Reynolds who, everybody knew who he was, but…he had a lot of movies that were failures or just didn’t do that well,” Miller claims, “Deadpool 1 was a real longshot for him.”
“By Deadpool 2, he was a different person.”
These statements by Miller ended up making him go semi-viral online, but not for good reasons. To start, many fans of Reynolds made sure to remind the stand-up comic that his former costar was far from a nobody before the Deadpool franchise took off.
“Ryan Reynolds had been in a bunch of movies prior to Deadpool, many of them successful,” said one commenter on X (formerly Twitter) before recalling Reynolds’ starring role in a cult-classic sitcom. “He also starred in Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.”

Others noted several very popular Reynolds projects that came out before becoming a Marvel mainstay, including National Lampoon’s Van Wilder in 2002, The Proposal and Adventureland in 2009, as well as the animated hits The Croods and Turbo in 2013.
Some posters even noticed people who aren’t big fans of Reynolds call out Miller for his comments, with one X poster saying: “TJ Miller is so unlikable that I’m seeing people who would rather have a foot cut off than see Deadpool 3 step up to defend Ryan Reynolds.”
Another noted the various controversies that Miller has been involved in to slam the comedian.
“Dude called in a fake bomb threat, ruined his own career and is now coming after Ryan like HE’S THE PROBLEM,” the commenter wrote.
Unsurprisingly, TJ Miller will not be reprising his role of Weasel in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, the third instalment in the Ryan Reynolds-led Deadpool trilogy.
